Ajax have suspended Luis Suárez for two league matches after he bit PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal on the shoulder during their 0-0 draw on Saturday.
The striker has also been fined an undisclosed amount which the club said would be donated to a "good cause".
Suárez, with seven league goals this season,
will miss the games against VVV-Venlo on Sunday and NEC Nijmegen the following week.
However he will be available for tomorrow's Champions League match against Real Madrid.
The Uruguay World Cup forward could also face disciplinary action from the Dutch Football Association who said today they would investigate the incident which was missed by the match referee.
Suárez remained unrepentant after the game,
saying: "No,
I do not regret what happened. Normally I always keep calm but I didn't ...
I'm a little tired. This week I had to travel a lot."
